Speaking to reporters in Parliament on Tuesday, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) Co-Floor Leader from Democratic Bulgaria Nadejda Iordanova said that the caretaker prime minister must be kept as far as possible from the influence of Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski.

Iordanova highlighted two elements which, in her words, are important in the selection of a caretaker government. First, President Iliana Iotova should hold consultations with the parliamentary parties, as required by the Constitution, but this should be a thorough and detailed process rather than a formal meeting, she argued. Second, the caretaker prime minister should be maximally distanced from Peevski’s influence and should propose a functioning caretaker cabinet, Iordanova added. From that point on, it is entirely within President Iotova’s powers to make her choice, she said.
