Bulgaria's athletes with Down syndrome finished with 11 medals (6 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze) at the Open Europe Down Syndrome Championships in Prague.
On the final day of the competition, the athletes from the Bulgarian Federation of Adapted Physical Activity claimed two more medals.
Alexander Asenov, the 100m European record holder and triathlon and long jump champion, triumphed in the 200m, clocking 28.84 seconds.
In the women's 200m, Radena Angelova, who had already won titles in the 800m and 1,500m race walk, took silver finishing in 38.17 seconds.
The Championships in Prague are among the most successful for Bulgaria's athletes with Down syndrome, who are now continuing their preparation for the 2026 Down Syndrome World Championships. The event, to be held in Sofia from June 13 to 19, will be the first championships of this scale dedicated entirely to athletes with Down syndrome hosted by Bulgaria.
