Representatives of the Commission for Consumer Protection and the National Revenue Agency (NRA) held an information meeting in Hisarya on Tuesday as part of the National Information Campaign for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria.
The topics covered at the meeting included the currency conversion rules, the requirements for traders under the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria Act, consumer rights, reporting violations, as well as the currency in which tax returns will be submitted after the introduction of the euro.
During the meeting, business representatives and members of the public asked questions about the introduction of the euro. One question was whether each item on a receipt must show amounts in lev and euro, or if only the total needs to be in both currencies. The chief expert at the NRA in Plovdiv, Diana Krasteva, said the requirement is clearly stated in the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria Act, namely, that only the total amount paid by the consumer must be indicated in both currencies.
