The 2026 State budget procedure is set to begin in September, Bulgarian Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova told a news briefing at the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.
"A specific regulatory framework governs the drafting and the process through which the 2026 budget procedure must pass. This procedure will be launched in September, with discussions starting with colleagues from other ministries, agencies, and municipalities, so that we can prepare the annual Budget Act as required by law," the Finance Minister explained. She added that the draft budget law will be submitted to the National Assembly within the established timeframe.
"It is far too early to set any parameters," Petkova also said.
Asked for comment on photos and reports on social media about a tanker arriving from Novorossiysk and being unloaded at the port of Rosenets (near Burgas, on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast), allegedly carrying not Kazakh but Russian oil, the Minister stressed: "The customs authorities are in place. Within the scope of their competence, they have the capacity to carry out the necessary inspections".
