The Council of Ministers has decided to nominate the Republic of Bulgaria as a candidate to host the OECD Skills Summit in 2028, the Government Information Service said on Wednesday.

According to the press release, Bulgaria would have the opportunity to present its experience with the established Centres of Competence at higher education institutions, Centres of Excellence at universities and research organizations, Vocational High School Centres of Excellence, Youth Centres, among others.

The OECD organizes Skills Summits as forums for sharing experience and discussing the development and implementation of reforms in skills development and utilization policies. These meetings bring together ministers and senior officials responsible for skills policies from OECD and EU member states, G20 non-OECD countries, among others.

Bulgaria would also be able to propose topics of national importance for discussion and to explore different aspects and best practices from other participating countries. The theme of the forum is proposed by the host country in cooperation with the OECD and serves as the guiding concept for all discussions during the OECD Skills Summit.
