A massive drone attack was launched by Russian forces overnight in the southern part of Ukraine's Odesa Region, once again targeting civilian and energy infrastructure, Oleg Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said on Telegram. The attack damaged an energy facility, an administrative building and several houses, he said.

A regional task force is working on the ground to deal with the aftermath of the attack. Critical infrastructure is temporarily operating on generators. Eleven relief points have been set up for the population, Kiper added.

"The attack has left 36,300 households without electricity. The damage is substantial. At this stage, more than 8,000 energy users have been reconnected to the power grid," DTEK Odesa Grids said.

The operational headquarters of the Izmail District State Administration reported that parts of the city of Izmail and Saf'yany Municipality are also without power due to damage caused by the drone attack.

During the night, more than 15 drones targeted Bolhrad, Izmail and Kiliya from over the Black Sea, according to local Telegram channels.

Bulgarians in Odesa Region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
