site.btaBulgarian Exports to EU Down 1.3%, Exceed BGN 12.7 Bln in Q1 of 2025


In the period from January to March 2025, the exports of goods from Bulgaria to the European Union (EU) decreased by 1.3% in comparison with the same period of 2024 and amounted to BGN 12.749 billion, the National Statistical Institute reported on their website on Wednesday. Main trade partners of Bulgaria were Germany, Romania, Italy, Greece and France, which accounted for 63.2% of the exports to the EU Member States, data show.
In the exports of goods from Bulgaria to the EU, distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification, the most notable growth was recorded in the section Food and live animals (32.2%). The most notable fall was reported in the section ‘Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials’ (37.8%).
In March 2025, the exports to the EU decreased by 3.2% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 4.432 billion.
The imports of goods to Bulgaria from the EU in the period January - March 2025 increased by 0.7% in comparison with the same period of 2024 and is worth to BGN 13.898 billion. The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from Germany, Romania, Greece, Italy and Poland.
