The Council of Ministers has adopted a decision to appoint Robert Eadie, a British and Irish citizen, as honorary consular official of Bulgaria in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. He will be based in Belfast, with a consular district covering the territory of Northern Ireland, the government information service said on Monday.

The decision also formally terminates the functions of Paul Martin, who served in this role from June 2017 until his passing in July 2025.

According to the government information service, Eadie enjoys a strong reputation in British and Bulgarian academic and business circles and has made a significant public contribution in support of the Bulgarian diaspora in Northern Ireland, as well as to the development of science in Bulgaria.
