Bulgarian Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov and Craiova Mayor Lia Olguta Vasilescu discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation during a meeting in the Romanian city, the Bulgarian Embassy in Bucharest said on Facebook.

The two focused on the appointment of a Bulgarian honorary consul in Craiova, who would help promote cultural, tourism and economic ties between the rapidly developing Romanian city and Bulgarian regions.

They also discussed the possibility of launching seasonal charter flights from Craiova International Airport to Burgas during the summer and to Plovdiv in the winter to facilitate travel by Romanian tourists to Bulgaria's Black Sea and mountain resorts.

Vlaykov and Vasilescu also called for closer cooperation between municipalities on both sides of the Danube under the Interreg Bulgaria-Romania cross-border cooperation programme.
