People's Store EAD Executive Director Nikolay Petrov officially opened one of the first company stores in the town of Kuklen on Monday.
He said that the company aims to provide access to good Bulgarian food at consistently low prices and to support domestic producers. Speaking to journalists, Petrov said that the markup charged on products will be a maximum of 10% and the generated profit will not exceed 9%.
"When inflation increases, purchase prices also increase, and accordingly, sales prices can also increase. Every inflationary process leads to such things. Our goal is to keep shelf prices as low as possible, while also keeping the markup for partners, because they must be able to live with these 10%. We have agreed that prices will not change for at least 2 months," Petrov pointed out.
The assortment includes over 45 items from the basic consumer basket and the most sought-after products from Bulgarian producers. "The main advantage of these goods is the price. The idea is for people in small settlements to have access to equally good prices as we do in large settlements," the company's executive director said.
Petrov noted that the low price will be achieved thanks to the company's partners and producers. So far, contracts have been signed with 11 manufacturers, he commented, adding that a logistics competition will be ready by the end of February, with the ambition being to have sites throughout the country by the end of 2026. Currently, there are 70 stores and a traveling store that will visit seven settlements every week according to a pre-arranged schedule, he said, noting that the investment in these 70 sites is minimal, with BGN 10 million to be used as working capital.
