Deputy Health Minister Petko Salchev has tendered his resignation. The news was confirmed for BTA by the Health Ministry press office.

Salchev has already been relieved of office by Prime Minister Rumen Radev.

Prof. Salchev has background in medicine and economy. He has taken a number of high positions in the health system, including Deputy Minister (2003-2005), deputy director of the Medical Supervision Agency (2019) and manager of the National Health Insurance Fund (2020-2023). He was also executive director of  Sofia's Hospital of Queen Ioanna - ISUL.
