site.btaHemus Motorway to Be Completed by End-2029, Say Regional Development Minister

Hemus Motorway will be completed by the end of 2029, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov said on Nova TV on Sunday morning. He added that one lot will be completed this year and several more sections will be put into operation.

Referring to the three repairs currently underway on the Trakia Motorway, Minister Ivanov said he understood the citizens' discontent, but in order to have good roads, there must be patience. "This was the only possible time, because the summer season practically starts at the beginning of July, [as well as] the intensive travel to the sea," Minister Ivanov said, recalling that in April there were still snowfalls in places, and if the sections were closed one by one, the repairs would have been extended and continued into the peak of the summer season. He clarified that the three repairs should be completed in about a month and 20 days.

The sections of the Trakia Motorway currently being repaired are part of 36 sections identified by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works as very problematic. According to Ivanov, intensive work is being carried out on all these sections, with the deadline for completion set for the end of May.
