site.btaBulgaria Seeks Greater Popularity as Travel Destination on Turkish Market

Popularizing Bulgaria as a travel destination on the Turkish market is among the priorities of the caretaker Ministry of Tourism in Sofia, Deputy Tourism Minister Mariela Modeva said at the opening of a Turkiye Bulgaria business forum in Burgas on Thursday. The event was held on the initiative of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, Modeva's ministry reported.
She said: "Turkiye is a priority partner to Bulgaria in the sector, and the importance of our bilateral relations will continue to grow in the context of current challenges. In recent years, Turkiye has invariably been among the top three source countries of tourist flow to Bulgaria. This statistical fact clearly shows that the Turkish market is very dynamic, but it is noteworthy that there is still considerable potential for development."
Modeva pointed to the recent launch of a direct air service between Istanbul and Plovdiv as a very important step forward in upgrading connectivity between the two countries. She said Bulgaria should make better use of the logistical opportunities arising from the proximity of the Istanbul metropolis.
