At a celebratory concert held on Saturday at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) Director General Milen Mitev said: "I wish that all schools which now have their own anthem remain a strong and united community of capable students and teachers who believe in their potential."

The event featured students from ten Bulgarian schools who performed their official school anthems, created as part of the fourth round of the Svetilnik (Candlelight) initiative.

“Of all cultural institutions in the country, BNR is perhaps the most closely connected with anthems,” Mitev said. “Just a few days ago, together with our national volleyball team, whether in person or over the airwaves, we listened to and sang the Bulgarian national anthem.”

During the event, Milen Mitev presented a certificate for participation in the fourth round of the Svetilnik initiative to Martin Iliev, Principal of Bishop Konstantin Preslavski High School in Burgas. Iliev thanked the organizers for the opportunity to be part of the initiative and added that the school anthem will allow both students and teachers to express their shared identity and sense of belonging.

In the fourth round of the campaign, ten schools from Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Smolyan and the villages of Belozem and Stambolovo received their own anthems.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) has been a partner of Musicauthor, whose organizer the Svetilnik initiative is. The initiative aims to give original anthems to Bulgarian schools since its launch four years ago. At the event on Saturday, BTA’s Director General Kiril Valchev presented the official certificate for the fourth round of Svetilnik to Stefan Kichukov, Principal of Dr. Petar Beron Primary School in Plovdiv.
