An exhibition dedicated to the French-Scottish writer Kenneth White is being held at the Pencho Slaveykov Regional Library in Varna entitled The Poet of the Visible World, Vesselin Chakarov, the organizer of the events, said on Wednesday.

The exhibition shows White's Bulgarian publications, his letters and pages from the graphic novel The Gurgunel Experience. Chakarov told BTA that he has known White's work since his youth and that he discovered his books in the studio of the Varna artist Panayot Minev. The only one who has translated him into Bulgarian is the poet Nikolay Kanchev, who was also his personal friend.

Chakarov also recalled how the idea of drawing a graphic novel based on White's first prose book came to be. In 2022, Chakarov painted an oil painting based on the works of Kenneth White and sent it to the Institute of Geopoetics, which was founded by the writer. Soon after, he received a personal thank you from him for the dedication. The two began a correspondence, which led to the graphic novel.

The exhibition can be seen until the beginning of September.

Kenneth White died on August 11, 2023, at the age of 87, working until the end on various projects. The two events in Varna in his memory are connected with the second anniversary of his death.
