Bulgarian composer Borislav Slavov won the BAFTA Game Award for Music with Baldur's Gate 3 on Thursday. Baldur's Gate 3 scored five wins at the London ceremony, including the best game title.

In a story on the BAFTA Game Awards, BBC writes that Slavov "struggled to hold back tears when he took the trophy for best music - thanking BAFTA for 'this special moment in my life'. "I believe if you don't leave a piece of your heart in the music, nobody can enjoy it… I would like to say thank you to each and every one of you in this room," he said quoted by the BBC.

Borislav Slavov was born in Sofia in 1973. His music career started in 2001, when he got his first soundtrack production assignment for the real-time strategy video game Knights of Honor, according to imdb.com. The works he is known for include Crysis 2 (2011), Crysis 3(2013) as Composer and Music Director, Ryse: Son of Rome (2013), Two Worlds II (2010).

In a Facebook post, composer Viktor Stoyanov, who is a Deputy Culture Minister in the newly appointed Bulgarian caretaker cabinet, wrote that the team headed by Slavov, working on Baldur’s Gate 3 also included Georgi Andreev as orchestrator and himself as composer and arranger. “It is the first time that Bulgarian game music takes the world’s highest position and opens up the path to new successes for music professionals. My thanks go to Bobby and the team for their dedication through the years. Hopefully this is just the beginning,” he wrote.
