Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov told journalists in Parliament on Friday that Parliament and government are broken and that the best solution for Bulgaria is new elections. He said that a government with a budget of BGN 70 billion cannot be based on the will of just four or five "independent" MPs who have been bought. He also said that the country has been in a political crisis since 2021 and that temporary stability does not mean it has emerged from the crisis.
Kostadinov noted that GERB-UDF and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning depend on each other. According to him, this situation is unsustainable because GERB cannot accept being subordinate to anyone - especially not MRF - New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski - and they want to remove him from power through elections. Kostadinov expressed his belief that there are two options: "Either [GERB leader Boyko] Borissov goes to the polls to save what he can of his party, or he joins [MRF founder and honorary chairman] Ahmed Dogan and they play cards".
According to Kostadinov, Peevski cannot continue without GERB, and he cannot become a major political force. Kostadinov said that Peevski will do everything possible to buy votes in future elections instead of Borissov. He also said that most of GERB's vote dealers have been recruited by the MRF, and predicted no more than 300,000 votes for GERB in future elections.
The Vazrazhdane floor leader also stated categorically that the next prime minister cannot be from the MRF - New Beginning, and that a party cannot be the leading political force with only 18% of the vote. Kostadinov also said that the BSP-United Left coalition is willing to do whatever it takes to stay in power. Regarding There Is Such a People, Kostadinov said that he believes that "when Peevski officially enters the government, they are finished".
