The Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) announced that they had adopted a decision on Thursday to impose sanctions on traders who failed to comply with their obligation under the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, to publish the prices of goods on their websites or provide them to the Commission via the price monitoring website kolkostruva.bg

Each penalty will be BGN 30,000, which is above the minimum of BGN 10,000 set out in the law but below the maximum of BGN 100,000. The Commission specifies that this amount was decided based on the severity of the violations and the public interest.

After the transition period ended on 8 October 2025, during which the CPC only issued warnings, mass inspections of traders were carried out on 9 October. The results showed that 70 traders had not provided the required information. Following the CPC's actions, 30 of these traders are currently providing the required information; however, this does not cancel their sanctions for the period during which they did not submit price data. The CPC added that the measures imposed are not an end in themselves, but rather aim to ensure market transparency and protect consumers' right to be informed about the current prices of goods.
