Bulgaria's Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a transatlantic dinner organized by the US State Department that hosted foreign ministers from NATO Member States and partner countries. Georgiev and Rubio discussed key issues related to security in the Black Sea region, Europe's energy sustainability, and strengthening transatlantic ties.

During the conversation, the two confirmed the commitment of Bulgaria and the US to continue the strategic dialogue and deepen cooperation for the benefit of the security, prosperity, and democratic values of both countries.

Emphasis was placed on joint efforts to support Ukraine and the need to maintain unity within NATO and the European Union in the context of the Russian Federation's ongoing aggression.

Georgiev expressed gratitude for the consistent support of the United States for stability and democratic development in Southeast Europe and emphasized the strategic importance of the Bulgarian-American partnership.

Rubio congratulated Bulgaria on its active role within NATO and on its contribution to regional security.

Georgiev and Rubio were unanimous that bilateral relations between the US and Bulgaria will continue to develop both in the field of security and in energy, economy, and technology.

Georgiev is visiting the US to take part in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
