site.btaInterior Minister: Miroslav Rashkov Is Good Choice for Interior Ministry Secretary General

Asked about the Council of Ministers' decision to propose Miroslav Rashkov for Interior Ministry secretary general, Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov told reporters here on Tuesday that he is content with this decision, since Rashkov is an experienced police officer, who has been the acting Interior Ministry Secretary General for more than a year.

Mitov added: "Under his [Rashkov's] leadership, work goes smoothly, so I have no reservations or comments. I hope the controversy with the presidency has been resolved."

The Minister was in Dolna Banya to attend the inaugural European Fire Sports Championship. He reported that 2025 has been the worst year in terms of fires since records began. Mitov stated: "After extinguishing over 9,000 fires in Bulgaria, it is clear that our firefighters are ready. We have the equipment, and we will obtain new equipment too." He concluded that the firefighting efforts in 2026 will be even better organized.
