The Council of Ministers will propose Miroslav Rashkov for Interior Ministry Secretary General, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov told journalists in Kostinbrod on Tuesday.
Miroslav Rashkov is currently acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior. The Council of Ministers’ proposal, following approval from President Rumen Radev, is based on the work of the professional leadership of the Ministry of Interior, the political neutrality of Miroslav Rashkov, and his potential to lead the structures within the Ministry of Interior, staying away from political disputes, explained Zhelyazkov.
“We are still waiting for the President to rule on the proposal for the head of the State Agency for National Security (SANS),” the Prime Minister said.
The Council of Ministers will also propose ambassadors on Wednesday, Zhelyazkov added.
With regard to the ambassadors, preliminary consultation with the President is planned before the Government makes its proposals, with the aim of synchronizing the views of the President and the Government on the country's foreign policy through the ambassadors, explained Zhelyazkov. “We sent the names to the presidential institution a long time ago. The good news is that the President has approved these names and tomorrow, with a decision of the Council of Ministers, we will officially propose them to him,” the Prime Minister said.
The Government will make a proposal for an ambassador to the US tomorrow, Rosen Zhelyazkov said in connection with Monday's statement by President Rumen Radev that there is still no name for an ambassador to Washington DC. “The ambassadors were finally agreed upon last week as a package, as it should be, but with compromises on my part, because I am still waiting for their proposals for key capitals such as Washington,” the President said on Monday, adding that it is not just the US capital. The head of State also said that this week there will be a permanent secretary general of the Ministry of Interior.
Radev has already stated that by the end of the month he will announce his decision on the proposals made by the executive branch within the framework of the consultation procedure for appointments in the security sector.
