Turkish Security Forces Foil Seven Terrorist Attacks in 2025

Turkish security forces have prevented seven terrorist attacks since the beginning of 2025 during nationwide operations against groups considered terrorist, Turkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said. A total of 2,063 people suspected of involvement in terrorist activities have been detained, Yerlikaya said at the annual conference of provincial police chiefs, as reported by Turkish state broadcaster TRT Haber.

The Interior Minister said that between January and November a total of 124,761 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants were detained and brought to justice. These included 20,844 suspects wanted for drug-related offences, 19,460 for theft and 2,096 for premeditated murder.

According to the data presented, 77,000 fewer crimes against persons and property were recorded in Turkiye compared with the same period 2024. The clearance rate for crimes against persons increased by 1.2 percentage points to 99%, while the clearance rate for property crimes rose by nine percentage points to 92%.

A total of 273 organized criminal groups were dismantled, including 153 by the organized crime units, 54 by the narcotics units and 66 by the cybercrime units. As a result of these operations, 4,267 people were arrested, and assets worth approximately TL 129 billion were seized.

Yerlikaya added that search and clearance operations in rural areas continue, with enhanced surveillance using aerial assets. He explained that in line with the vision of a Turkiye without terrorism, the fight against terrorism will continue with determination and without compromise, as a terror-free country is seen as a guarantee of the right to life, peace and security.
