The Guards Representative Brass Band could perform any musical chord and could elevate any musical piece, winning more admirers, Vice President Iliana Iotova said Thursday at the opening of an exhibition, presenting archival documents and photographs from the Band’s history. The exhibition is displayed in the Sofia City Garden in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre.
“It is an exceptional honour for me to attend the opening of this remarkable exhibition. Please consider my presence here a gesture of the deepest respect for you, dear Guardsmen, for everything you have done, are doing, and will do for our homeland. You have my sincere gratitude and that of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev,” Iotova stated.
She pointed out that this is the first large-scale study of the history of Bulgaria’s military bands and, in particular, the Guards Representative Brass Band.
Reflecting on the exhibition’s historical documents and archives, she said that the band’s history is almost as old as the Third Bulgarian State itself, spanning a long legacy of glory, but also many challenges.
“To serve in this way requires complete dedication to art and music, and an enormous love for Bulgaria carried in the heart and soul. That is what it takes to be a true Guardsman, a musician, and to rise to the highest levels of professionalism and patriotic devotion,” she concluded.
