The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued orange and yellow codes for dangerous hot weather in the country on Wednesday, July 7.

An orange code warning for temperatures between 38C and 41C has been issued for most of the country. It is in force for regions in Northern, Central and Southern Bulgaria.

A yellow code has been issued for the rest of the country for temperatures between 35C and 37C. Such temperatures are expected in seven regions, including Sofia city, Sofia district, Pernik, Dobrich, Varna, Burgas and Smolyan.

During most of the day and over most regions it will be mostly sunny, the NIMH said. Cumulus clouds will develop in the afternoon and in isolated places, mainly in the mountainous regions of Western and Central Bulgaria and the northern central parts of the country, there will be short-term rain with thunder. There will be a light to moderate south-southeasterly wind. Highs: 36-41C, 37C in Sofia. 

Along the Black Sea coast the weather will be sunny and hot. Highs: between 28C and 31C.
