Citizens gathered in front of the National Assembly’s building in Sofia to protest against the decision on providing military assistance to Ukraine. The demonstrators demanded a peaceful settlement of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. They believe that providing military and technical assistance to Ukraine will eventually mean sending troops to fight in Ukraine.

BSP for Bulgaria representatives attended the protest.

The Mothers against War initiative came up with a petition for a peaceful solution of the military conflict and not to send weapons to Ukraine, as well as for Bulgaria to remain neutral in the dispute. The petition will be filed to the National Assembly, the Presidency and the Council of Ministers, the organizers said.

A petition for peace and for Bulgaria to remain neutral in the war in Ukraine was initiated in Silistra (on the Danube), as well.

Protests were also held in the cities of Varna, Veliko Tarnovo and Yambol.
