Germany is one of Bulgaria’s most important partners in the European Union and a leading investor in the country, GERB Chair Boyko Borissov wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
He said he had met at GERB headquarters with Tilman Kuban, a Member of the German Bundestag from the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Marcel Scharrelmann, a member of the Landtag of Lower Saxony, and Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes, head of the Bulgaria office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Borissov said that if Bulgaria wants to attract next-generation manufacturing and high-tech companies, the state must ensure stability, predictable rules, and an effective public administration. This, he added, is the foundation for the development of the automotive, mechanical engineering, and technology industries. Competition is intense, and Bulgaria and Europe must actively defend and promote their advantages, he said.
The GERB Chair also wrote that the issue of energy security was raised during the talks. In his words, for businesses, this means predictability and confidence to invest in the long term. Diversification of supply, better interconnectivity, and the development of renewable energy sources are priorities where cooperation with Germany can be deepened, Borissov said.
According to him, Bulgaria and Germany share a common interest: a strong economy and a secure Europe. “We will continue to develop our partnership through concrete actions and tangible results,” the GERB Chair added.
