Turkiye exports defence equipment to 180 countries and now ranks 11th in the world in this regard. The data was announced on Friday during a discussion focused on the development and progress of Turkiye's defence industry, attended by the heads of key companies using advanced and aerospace technologies such as Roketsan, TUSAS, ASELSAN, and STM.

At the opening of the panel, the President of the Defence Industry Agency, Prof. Dr. Haluk Gorgun, said that Turkiye is developing 1,380 defence projects, involving nearly 100,000 workers.

He described Turkiye’s defence industry as a historic advancement for the country.

Gorgun said that today, the defence industry is not just a symbol of military power, but also of economic, diplomatic, and strategic strength, emphasizing that strategic independence is just as important as border security.

He highlighted that Turkiye’s defence systems are no longer only important in a national context but are also preferred by Ankara’s allies. He attributed this to the country’s consistent policies and the development of an entire ecosystem involving manufacturing facilities, universities, and technology parks.

“We are no longer just talking about production, but also about competition. We are thinking about how to compete with other countries,” said Prof. Gorgun.

He also reported a 128% increase in defence technology exports, amounting to USD 989.6 million, with a 5.4% growth since the beginning of the year.
