The 11th travelling folk festival On the Town Square of the Other Bulgaria will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17, 2026. The festival was presented by Milena Ouzounova, Consul for Political Affairs, Education, and Culture at the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Munich, during a round table of cultural institutions held in the Bavarian city, the Bulgarian diplomatic mission said in a Facebook post.

Since its launch in 2015, the festival has brought together Bulgarian folk ensembles from across Europe and has become into a well-established celebration of Bulgarian dances, songs, and traditions.

In 2026, the festival will be hosted in Munich for the first time, with the local folk ensemble Lazarka serving as host. More than 4,000 Bulgarian participants from across Europe are expected to attend, the post added.

Earlier this month, Lazarka ensemble head Plamen Petkov said that 110 groups and nine individual participants from 23 countries had already registered for the festival.
