site.btaPresident Nicusor Dan: Romania and Europe Need Partnership With USA

Romanian President Nicusor Dan said during an extraordinary meeting of European heads of state and government in Brussels that Romania and Europe need a partnership with the United States, his press centre reported on Friday.

"The United States is an important strategic partner for Romania's security. Fortunately for this Council, many EU countries share this opinion," Dan noted. However, he added that transatlantic relations have recently experienced difficulties, with tensions and interruptions. Nevertheless, he believes there are sufficient reasons for them to continue.

In response to a question regarding the absence of a decision on Romania's invitation to join the Board of Peace, and the suggestion that this constitutes a rejection, Dan stated:

"We will discuss all these things later in more detail. You realize that this is not a simple matter; it is a statute that commits the Romanian state to an international issue".
