The "National/Local" exhibition of the Kazanlak Art Gallery is on display in the closed gallery of the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Centre in Skopje until the end of April. The exhibition is significant as it marks the 125th anniversary of the Kazanlak Art Gallery.
According to the organizers of the event, the exhibition traces the continuity in Bulgarian art through the works of artists from different generations - from the classical pieces of Hristo Kutev to the significant presence of Dechko Uzunov and Nenko Balabanski and the expressive style of Konstantin Tringov and Stoyan Domuschiev. Works by Georgi Borisov-Lava, Velemir Petrov, Rumen Petkov, Dimitrios Papadakis, Rumen Nechev and Darina and Andrey Yanev and Mara Yosifova occupy a special place in the multifaceted image of Bulgarian art presented in the exhibition. The tapestries by Mara Yosifova are also highlighted.
Kazanlak Gallery Director Plamen Petrov said at the opening of the exhibition that their collection is the second oldest in Bulgaria, comprising over 5,000 works. Without it, the history of Bulgarian art could not be displayed or recounted. He added that the aim is to showcase not only works by Kazanlak artists but also by artists who have passed away and those who are still working today.
