site.btaLong Lines of Cars Form at North Macedonia–Greece Border Due to Greek Farmers’ Protests
Columns of cars are waiting at the border crossings between North Macedonia and Greece near Dojran as they seek to enter Greece, North Macedonian media reported on Monday.
December 8 is a public holiday in North Macedonia for the Feast of Kliment Ohridski (or Clement of Ohrid), and many locals began travelling to Greece as early as Friday. As of midday, however, traffic at the Bogorodica border crossing between the two countries was blocked due to protests by Greek farmers, diverting vehicles to other checkpoints.
At the Medzitlija crossing with Greece, traffic is currently blocked only for trucks and buses, while at the border point near Dojran the waiting time is about 30 minutes.
Waiting times of around 40 minutes have also been reported at the Tabanovce border crossing between North Macedonia and Serbia.
