North Macedonia's Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has conferred with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who is on a two-day visit to Skopje to attend a meeting of EU and Western Balkan leaders.
The sides discussed the region’s European prospects, particularly the implementation of reforms and the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, as well as strengthening cooperation with European institutions. Mickoski reaffirmed his government’s strong commitment to EU integration, emphasizing reforms in the rule of law, economic development, and digital transformation. Kos praised the government's reform agenda and reaffirmed the European Commission's support for the region's progress on its path toward EU membership, Skopje’s government press service said in a press release on Monday.
The EU-Western Balkans summit, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, will focus on accelerating the implementation of the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. The meeting will bring together leaders from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Serbia, and Montenegro.
