The Ombudsman's Office recalled Tuesday that from 2022 they have insisted on criminalizing the illegal provision of social services to the elderly and sick. In a statement sent to National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova, Parliament's Committee on Labour and Social Policy Chair Denitsa Sacheva, Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev and the Minister of Labour and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov, urgent legislative changes are again recommended in the Criminal Code and the Social Services Act.

The press release comes after the revelations of illegal homes for the elderly and sick in the villages of Yagoda and Govedartsi.

Illegal sites in Varna region were also reported on Tuesday morning.
