This investigation was opened only after a private party alerted the EPPO, as none of the responsible national authorities has detected and reported it to the EPPO. In the course of this investigation, the European Delegated Prosecutor was also confronted with the unprecedented situation in which measures he requested, having been authorised by the Bulgarian Court, were only partially executed by the responsible police authority. This lack of cooperation demonstrates the added value of dedicated and specialised investigators in support of EPPO cases.
