site.btaEnergy Forum Stresses Smart Grids, Modernization, and Economic Benefits of Green Transition
The most pressing IT trends and agendas, with a specific focus on the digital transformation of the energy sector, were discussed in Sofia on Wednesday during a regional business brunch titled "The Digital Future of the Energy Sector". The event was organized by the Hungarian Chief Information Officers' Association (VISZ) in partnership with the Trade and Economic Affairs Office of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Hungary and Inter Computer Bulgaria.
The discussion focused on modernizing and digitizing energy networks, the role of innovation in transforming energy infrastructure, integrating renewable energy sources, smart grids, and energy transmission and distribution.
Bulgarian Deputy Energy Minister Krasimir Nenov said at the meeting that innovation and modernization are crucial as the energy sector is evolving faster than in previous decades. According to Nenov, the direction for Bulgaria is low-emission electricity generation, combining the country’s extensive experience with the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant and the full exploitation of renewable energy sources.
“We are also committed to addressing the needs of vulnerable communities living in single-family homes, for whom it is more challenging to secure the necessary resources to make their homes energy efficient,” the deputy minister emphasized.
