Social services will be upgraded with 500 photovoltaic solar systems and 250 electric vehicles with an investment under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, said Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy Natalia Efremova during an information day held by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy on the procedure for providing photovoltaic systems for existing social services financed from the state budget, and for purchasing electric vehicles with charging stations for their more efficient provision. The meeting was attended by over 250 representatives from municipalities, the line ministry said in a press release on Friday.
The total budget for the two activities of the procedure is BGN 77.6 million. The funds are from the additional funding provided to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan under the REPowеrEU Chapter. The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy defended this additional investment, aimed specifically and only at improving the social services provided to people by municipalities, noted Deputy Minister Efremova.
Under the procedure, project proposals can be submitted by all municipalities on whose territory social services operate, provided that they have been delegated an activity by the state. The goal is to reduce the energy dependence of all social services managed by municipalities. It is expected that after the implementation of the projects, the annual consumption of energy from non-renewable sources in the sites with installed systems will be reduced by 30%.
