Vazrazhdane MP Slavcho Krumov has requested information from the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) regarding chronic problems with electricity supply in the town of Novi Iskar, near Sofia, the party’s press office said here on Sunday.

Krumov is seeking answers about frequent and prolonged power outages, as well as the systematic supply of low voltage, which he says makes normal daily life virtually impossible for residents, especially during the winter months. He is demanding a detailed explanation of the technical reasons behind the repeated outages, whether actual voltage measurements have been carried out during peak hours, and what measures have been taken or are planned to modernize and reinforce the electricity distribution network in the area.

The MP has also raised the issue of the responsibility of the electricity distribution company ERM Zapad (ERM West) with regard to quality control of electricity supply and the conditions for providing compensation in the event of violations. Krumov noted that voltage levels in the area often drop to around 180 volts, leading to malfunctions of heating appliances, water heaters and other household appliances. As a result, households are left without heating and hot water at sub-zero temperatures, he wrote in his inquiry.

According to Krumov, despite numerous reports and complaints submitted by residents to the distribution company, citizens are told that there is no data indicating problems with electricity supply. This, he said, raises doubts about the actual oversight and the effectiveness of voltage measurements carried out by the responsible institutions.
