Three-day Troyan Run Fest will take place in the mountain town of Troyan from June 20 to 22. Street art performances and the third edition of the mountain running race Troyan Run - In the Footsteps of Levski are part of the program, said Thursday Nikolay Todorov from Troyan in the Future association, organizing the event.
27 events featuring contemporary music, theater and circus arts, handicrafts, and sport will be held at Vazrazhdane square. On June 20 at 2:00 PM, free breast cancer screening will be offered by representatives of the Bulgaria Cancer Society and the Women Motorcycle Association. Screenings will continue until Saturday, June 21.
Traditional Troyan Run - In the Footsteps of Levski will start on Saturday, with 700 participants and an option to earn points toward the International Trail Running Association (ITRA). The 41 km race is also part of the national SkyRunning - BSF championship, said Todorov.
The 70 km route follows trails that, based on historical records, were traveled by national hero Vasil Levski through the Troyan Balkan.
“One of the main driving forces behind our energy is the memory and legacy of Levski. What we aim to do is to continue to promote and instill his ideals. We believe this will make our society better and more connected to our great history,” Todorov added.
Teachers and students from Prof. Venko Kolev Secondary School of Applied Arts in Troyan will give demonstrations in ceramic art, painting, and modern art.
