World champion in alpine snowboarding Tervel Zamfirov achieved yet another success in student sports, as he triumphed at the National University Games in the judo under 73 kg category here on Thursday. His triumph comes on the back of a gold medal from the 2025 Winter World University Games in Turin where he finished first in the parallel giant slalom snowboarding event.
Zamfirov, who represented the University of Forestry in Sofia, defeated David Mironov, Veselin Ivanov, Pavel Vasilev, and Ivan Dragulev to secure the gold.
This is Zamfirov's second consecutive National Universiade judo title.
This year, the competition hosted by Trakia University will take place between May 7 and 11. More than 2,000 students will compete in 16 sports. Some of the events such as the football, handball, cricket, and sport climbing finals will take place in Sofia.
