site.btaHousehold Deposits in Bulgaria Reach BGN 92.4 Bln at End-May, Up 11.5% Y/Y

At the end of May 2025, deposits of households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) totalled BGN 92.361 billion, marking an annual increase of 11.5%, according to data released by Bulgarian National Bank on Tuesday. These deposits amount to 43.2% of Bulgaria’s projected gross domestic product (GDP), data show.

The growth rate accelerated slightly compared to April 2025, when the annual increase was 11.1%.

At the end of May 2025, deposits of Non-financial corporations were BGN 46.716 billion (21.9% of GDP). Compared to the same month of 2024 they increased by 6.7% (6% annual growth in April 2025).

Deposits of Financial corporations increased by 22.7% annually (41.9% annual growth in April 2025) and at the end of the month they reached BGN 3.998 billion (1.9% of GDP).

In the same period, deposits of the non-government sector were BGN 143.075 billion (66.9% of GDP), increasing annually by 10.2% (10.2% annual growth in April 2025).
