A foreigner without identity documents and carrying two pistols was detained at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint on November 15, the Border Police General Directorate said here on Monday. He was found in a specially adapted hiding place under the front seats of a bus entering Bulgaria, driven by a 49-year-old Turkish citizen. 

The foreign citizen said he was also Turkish. Border police officers searched the man, finding two pistols, five magazines, and 83 rounds of ammunition.

He admitted that he had paid EUR 20,000 to the bus driver for the illegal transport, his goal being to reach Western Europe. Both men were detained in Svilengrad. Investigation into the case is continuing, according to the statement.
