With every public appearance, Rumen Radev demonstrates his Euro-Atlantic views and in doing so greatly helps Vazrazhdane, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said in a Facebook post on Saturday, commenting on Radev’s interview with Bulgarian National Television on Friday evening. Radev served as President from 2017 to 2026.
“An excellent interview by Radev on the Panorama talk show. Once again, he said he supports the euro, that under international law Crimea is Ukrainian (under the same international law Kosovo should also be Serbian, but he was not asked that question), that he is ready to hold talks with Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria about governing, and with GERB about the election of a new Supreme Judicial Council, and so on, and so on,” Kostadinov wrote.
With each of his public appearances, Radev consistently reveals his political views - Euro-Atlantic and supportive of the neoliberal political status quo, the Vazrazhdane leader commented. “I know that there will be no debates involving him, because his team is afraid of them. Even last night, he was unprecedentedly alone on Panorama, which at least I cannot recall happening before - politicians [on the show] are always at least two. But such interviews are useful because they reveal the ideology, political attitudes, qualities, and skills of a politician,” Kostadinov added.
"That is why, through such appearances, Radev helps Vazrazhdane immensely and brings the party the votes of his disappointed supporters," the Vazrazhdane leader said.
“Up to now, the ‘new’ political-engineering projects have always revealed their true face after elections. It is good that, because of the strong public energy at the moment, this happened before the elections. Because when people become disappointed after elections, it is too late. And now the election campaign is just beginning,” Kostadinov wrote.
