Unemployment in Turkiye fell to 7.7% in December 2025, according to data published on Thursday by the Turkish Statistical Institute on its official website. Compared to the previous month, unemployment fell by 0.8%, meaning that 286,000 people over the age of 15 found employment. However, 2.7 million people remained unemployed.
More women than men are unemployed. Gender-specific data shows that 10.5 % of women are unemployed, compared to 6.3% of men.
Youth unemployment in the 15–24 age group remains high in the country. Despite a 1.1% decline compared to November, the rate stood at 14.1% in December 2025. With unemployment standing at 18.2% among young women and 12% among young men, the data shows that the gender unemployment ratio remains consistent in this category.
