site.btaBulgaria to Introduce National Cybersecurity System, Says e-Government Minister in Meeting with German Industry Representatives
Bulgaria begun implementing a national cybersecurity system which is expected to position the country among EU leaders in cyber resilience, said Minister of e-Government Valentin Mundrov on Monday in Berlin. He held a working meeting with representatives of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy.
Mundrov presented to the German partners the key steps for establishing the national system, which will enable early threat identification and analysis, greater institutional resilience, and more effective coordination among state bodies. He emphasized that the project is strategic and will elevate Bulgaria to a new level in cybersecurity.
The meeting also addressed opportunities to expand cooperation with Germany in IT and cybersecurity. The Minister highlighted that shared European objectives in digital security provide a strong foundation for collaboration. “Cybersecurity is a common front. In a rapidly evolving world, EU Member States must act together to be stronger against contemporary threats. This can only be achieved through close cooperation within the EU,” Mundrov said.
He outlined to German businesses the policies implemented by the Ministry to ensure cybersecurity, as well as Bulgaria’s progress in modernizing its digital infrastructure. The Minister assured participants that Bulgaria has a strong IT sector and internationally recognized experts capable of being reliable partners in building secure and innovative solutions.
“Germany is a leading economic and trade partner of Bulgaria and one of our most significant investors. Therefore, our priority is to maintain and expand cooperation, especially in IT projects. Bulgaria has the potential, expertise, and vision to serve as a model for a modern, secure, and transparent country,” Mundrov emphasized.
Representatives of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy expressed satisfaction that following their meeting with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov last week in Sofia, bilateral work on areas of mutual interest is now being concretized, with tangible progress expected through partnership with the e-Government Ministry.
