Velichie leader Ivelin Mihaylov congratulated President Rumen Radev for deciding to enter politics in a social media post on Monday. Earlier the same day, Radev said he would submit his resignation as President on Tuesday.

In the video, Mihaylov said Bulgarians had a duty to their ancestors. He noted that Bulgaria’s history stretched back millennia and argued that people owed it to their forebears to ensure the country did not collapse, but was preserved and passed on to future generations, so they could decide what to do with it.

Mihaylov described Radev’s choice as a tough, high-stakes decision to enter the fight and urged him to carefully select the people he would work with, stressing that the success of the mission to save Bulgaria depended on them and on the citizens it was meant to serve. He said he expected wise decisions and that he was ready to support anyone who genuinely fought for a clean and holy republic.
