site.btaBulgarian Tourist Union: Tourism Must Become National Priority
"We must make tourism a national priority," said Bulgarian Tourist Union (BTU) chairman Ventsislav Venev on Wednesday at a BTA-hosted press conference.
“The aim of Union is to make Bulgaria the most attractive country for tourism in Europe - we have the sea, mountains with huts and routes. This goal should be recognized by the institutions and a long-term program with measures to be implemented should be made. Our natural beauty spots must be displayed. We will do our best to make this happen. The institutions have been informed and we will fight for the measures to be taken. This way we will have water supply to the huts and waste water collection. The result will be a healthier nation, Venev said.
The Union is proposing to supply the Musala hut with water from the nearby river, as was done 50 years ago, but without being regulated by law. However, there is still no decision on the collection of waste water from the hut because it is now prohibited in protected areas, Venev said. We have a proposal to the Ministry of Environment and Water and we are waiting for an agreement with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Venev added. “Some BGN 5 million were disbursed for the renovation of the Musala hut, it is ready for use, but we still cannot solve the water problem,” Venev said.
