The Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, Dimitar Radev, met International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, and European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis in Dubrovnik, Croatia, the press office of the National Bank announced Friday. The main topic of discussions was Bulgaria’s progress in its preparation for joining the euro area and the expected positive effects of the introduction of the euro on the economy, people’s incomes and the business environment. The country received support for its efforts on this strategic priority.

In Dubrovnik, Radev took part in the international conference of the IMF and the Croatian Central Bank, held on May 29 and 30. The event focused on fostering growth and resilience in the region of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe to better respond to a more fragmented world.

Kristalina Georgieva said in a post on the social media platform X: “In Dubrovnik, I met with EU Commissioner Dombrovskis and BNB Governor Dimitar Radev. We discussed key economic issues and the vital importance of Bulgaria joining the eurozone - for people, businesses and growth. Confident this will complete Bulgaria’s EU integration.”
