Bulgarian artist Radoslav Neychev will present his exhibition From the Danube to the Seine at the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA) gallery on Shipka 6 in Sofia from October 14 to 30, the organizers said on Friday.
“One great river – one small town. Oryahovo and the Danube. I was born there, I grew up there – in the small town beautifully set on the riverbank. I constantly draw strength from these roots; in my mind, scenes of its nature always reappear – the hills adorned with blooming fruit trees, the colorful gardens, the barking dogs, the scorching summers when everyone rushes to the river for a breath of coolness. The sensations there are different – the taste, the scent, the sounds, the colors... everything feels more real,” Neychev shared.
"Inspired by the Danube, the artist discovered Seine in 2023, when he spent two months in Paris’ art district Cite des Arts. The encounter with one of art’s most emblematic rivers added new shades and depth to his creative expression", the organizers noted.
Art critic Ani Venkova described Neychev’s paintings as “a symbiosis of observation, photos, and sketches, appearing both familiar and imaginary.”
