Six people, including three children, have been injured in a massive overnight attack on Odesa, Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, said on Telegram.
"Among the six injured are a seven-month-old baby, an eight-year-old girl, and a fourteen-year-old boy. All of the wounded who are in moderate to serious condition have been hospitalized," the official added.
The attack on the Ukrainian Black Sea city caused damage to energy and logistics infrastructure, as well as to residential buildings.
High-rise residential buildings were damaged as a result of strikes on targets in two districts of the city. In one of them, a fire broke out in apartments. Building facades and windows were damaged. The fire also caused damage to passenger cars, Lysak noted.
Medics, rescue workers, and all municipal services are working to address the aftermath. An operational headquarters has been set up, and residents are receiving the necessary assistance.
According to Lysak, parts of the Peresyp, Khadjibey, and Prymorskyi districts of the city are currently without electricity as a result of the strike. Crews are working to restore power.
Bulgarians in Odesa Region number more than 150,000 and are the third largest population group in Ukraine, according to the official census held in 2001. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
