The Council of Ministers adopted a national cultural calendar for national events and commemorations of significant events and notable figures for 2026.
For the first time since 1999, the Culture Ministry has completed the procedure for preparing the National Cultural Calendar in compliance with the Cultural Protection and Development Act. Open and public procedures were introduced, ensuring transparency, predictability, and strategic planning.
In May, Culture Minister Marian Bachev said that in 2026 the country will have a national cultural calendar. He said this is a strategic instrument that will ensure long-term predictability in terms of upcoming events and its usefulness for cultural institutions and event organizers, as well as for the Ministry of Tourism, local authorities and municipalities.
"We are confident that this will increase interest in various sites and events, which in turn will lead to benefits for the districts and municipalities in which they are held," Bachev said.
